Design Manager experience — the role responsible for quality control of every plan before it reaches a client. This is that review.
100s
Of custom home plans reviewed, refined, and approved. Every common mistake has been seen, solved, and documented.
The Process

Four steps. No meetings.

01
Upload your plan
Email your floor plan as a PDF or CAD file, along with any brief notes — block dimensions, client preferences, design intent. That's all we need.
02
We review it
A design manager with 15+ years of custom home experience opens your plan on screen, records a Loom video, and runs through the same quality control process used inside high-end building firms — spatial flow, proportions, street presence, liveability, and missed opportunities.
03
You get the video + summary
Within 48 hours you receive a 15-minute Loom video with on-screen annotations, plus a one-page PDF summary listing the top 5–10 actionable recommendations.
04
Improve the design
Take the recommendations to your drafter, your designer, or your client. Every suggestion is practical and specific — not vague feedback, but exactly what to change and why it matters.
What We Review

The things most plans get wrong.

Spatial flow and circulation

Does the plan move logically from entry to living to private zones? Is there wasted hallway space? Are rooms connected in a way that makes daily life easier? These are the first things a design manager checks.

Room proportions and sizing

Bedrooms that look generous on paper but can't fit a queen bed and robes. Living areas that are the right square meterage but the wrong shape. We catch these before they become problems on site.

Street presence and elevations

First impressions sell homes. We assess whether the front elevation matches the quality of the floor plan and whether the design reads well from the street.

Natural light and orientation

Window placement relative to block orientation, overshadowing from neighbouring properties, and whether living areas will actually get the light they need for your climate and latitude.

Indoor–outdoor connection

In Australia, the alfresco is often the most-used room in the house. We check whether the transition from kitchen to living to outdoor works the way your client — or your family — expects it to.

Missed opportunities

The study that could be a guest suite. The void that would transform the entry. The window seat that makes a bedroom feel twice the size. We find the ideas the original designer didn't.

Why this matters
The quality control step that most plans skip

Inside high-end custom home building firms, every plan passes through a design manager before it reaches a client. That review catches the spatial errors, the missed opportunities, and the proportional missteps that drafters and junior designers don't see.

Most plans never get this step. The designer draws it, the builder presents it, and the client approves it — without anyone checking whether the design is actually as good as it could be.

Plan Review gives you that missing step. A 15-minute Loom video with on-screen annotations, plus a one-page PDF with the top 5–10 recommendations ranked by impact. The same rigour, now available to anyone with a residential floor plan.

Who It's For

Built for anyone who wants a better plan.

Home Builders
You've had plans drawn by a drafter or designer. Before presenting to your client, you want a design manager to check the plan is as good as it can be — the same quality control step used inside the firms you're competing against.
Designers and Drafters
You've produced a floor plan and want experienced quality control before it goes to the builder or client. A design manager's eye that catches what you might have missed and helps you deliver a stronger result.
Home Buyers and Renovators
You're about to sign off on plans for a new build or major renovation. Before you commit hundreds of thousands of dollars to construction, a $395 review could save you tens of thousands in mid-build changes — or simply confirm your plans are right. If you're still choosing a builder, we can also point you in the right direction.
Questions

Everything you need to know.

What file formats do you accept?
PDF is preferred. We also accept DWG, DXF, and high-resolution images (JPG/PNG) of printed plans. If you have a CAD file, send it — we can zoom into details that PDFs sometimes lose.
Is this a redesign service?
No. We don't produce new drawings. We review what you already have and tell you exactly what to improve and why. Your drafter, designer, or builder then implements the changes. If you're a builder looking for someone to design from scratch, ask us about Design Club.
How detailed is the video?
Very. The 15-minute Loom covers every significant issue — spatial flow, room proportions, natural light, street presence, indoor–outdoor connection, and specific missed opportunities. We mark up the plan on screen as we talk so you can see exactly what we mean.
Can I ask follow-up questions?
The review is a one-way deliverable — video plus PDF summary. If you're a builder and need ongoing design input, we recommend Design Club, our subscription design service. For home buyers or designers who want to discuss the review, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
Do you review multi-storey or apartment plans?
We review single and double-storey residential plans. Apartment buildings, commercial, and multi-residential projects are outside our scope. If your project is borderline, get in touch and we'll let you know.
How do I pay?
Payment is upfront via credit card or bank transfer. Once payment is confirmed and your plan is received, the 48-hour (or 12-hour for Priority) turnaround clock starts.
